The Copyrights! Why are these so important? By federal law copyrights belong to the photographer who takes the photographs and no one else may make reprints without their consent or release of the copyrights. I sign over the copyrights to you after the wedding is complete and you will “own” your images. Unlike most photographers who will only give you a disc to view the images, you may reprint form mine. Here are a few things that copyright ownership allows you and a simple high resolution or low resolution viewing disc does not:
You may make as many copies of the disc as you please and give them to friends and family.
Your friends and family can make reprints on their own.
You may place them on your website or e-mail them to others.
You may print them on your home printer.
You may go to any photo lab to have reprints done for less money if you wish
